Gear
For the most part, the preparation stage of my trip was very exciting. It allowed me to envision myself somewhere exotic on the trip rather than in my daily life. And I always enjoyed visiting other traveler's websites to see what they took and how they did it. So here's my contribution to anyone who may be doing the same.
I committed to this trip 3-1/2 years prior to departing, so I had plenty of time to prepare - at least that's what I thought. But I'm also fairly particular (some people may find other words more appropriate) about the products I buy, and I spent more time researching and evaluating them than expected.
Keep in mind that the gear I've decided upon for my trip is based on many factors, including destinations, duration, budget, quality, capacity, functionality and availability. These factors can vary drastically per person, hence, there is no such thing as the perfect gear for everyone. These items are simply what I felt was right for my situation.
